Creating a Database in FileMaker Pro 8 : Visual QuickProject Guide

Like my previous book ("Creating a Database in FileMaker Pro: Visual QuickProject Guide") for FileMaker Pro 7, this hands-on tutorial is designed to help you "learn by doing." By following the numbered steps, you'll create a full-featured, relational database (Investment Minder) that tracks four classes of investments: savings and money market accounts, stocks and mutual funds, CDs, and savings bonds. In the course of working through this book, you'll create fields with auto-enter and validation options, as well as Calculation and Summary fields that perform computations within and across records; define relationships between the four data tables; design data entry layouts (including one that has portals and a tab control -- a new feature of FileMaker Pro 8); design attractive and informative investment reports; and create value lists, scripts, and buttons to automate common and complex actions. Rather than just reading about new features, this book is intended to help you USE them.
